Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities

A Rule by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on 10/04/2016

“This final rule will revise the requirements that Long-Term Care facilities must meet to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs with regards to Specialized Rehabilitative Services (§ 483.65).” “We have added respiratory services to those services identified as specialized rehabilitative services”

Specialty Medical Products, Inc. has partnered with Aeris Consulting and Management, LLC, (a respiratory care company) to “bridge the gap” between hospital respiratory care and alternate site respiratory care for sub-acute and long term care environments (post-acute). Trials

SMP strives to offer state-of-the-art, efficient, and cost-effective equipment while maintaining a knowledgeable, available and service-oriented staff. While we specialize in wound-care, negative-pressure and bariatric supplies, our line of products is wide and extensive. Many of our products are available on a trial basis. The normal trial period is 3-5 days. For the convenience of our facilities, the trial is in-serviced and evaluated by a SMP representative. Prior to the trial, a SMP representative will be touch with the facility. If if the trial is successful, then the facility will proceed to purchase or lease the equipment. Note that trials are not always new equipment. However they always meet ACHC standards and SMP’s high quality standards. For more information on our trial program, contact us. Maintenance Program

Training

Unlike remote, catalog-based suppliers, Specialty Medical Products’ in-house technicians are available to train your facility’s staff on the installation, operation and maintenance of all SMP products and supplies. Our experienced staff can instruct individuals or conduct facility-wide sessions at your site, ensuring that your products always operate properly and safely.
